Kobelco Advanced Coating (America), Inc. (KOBAC) was established in 2007 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kobelco in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The company provides sales of equipment and after-sales service for customers in North, Central, and South America, with a focus on contract coating of cutting tools, dies, and molds.

In 2018, KOBAC received AS9100 certification and began full-scale contract work for aircraft parts.

In addition, process engineers are stationed locally to handle contract products that have diversified with the spread of PVD deposition technology. These engineers suggest recommended films, provide sample coatings, and tune up the deposition process according to your needs.

KOBAC also provides a service for storing major parts for customers with installed equipment and shipping them in case of emergency.
